Blue & White
While the lacy teardrop pattern known as paisley has Persian origins, its western name comes from a town in Scotland named Paisley. A floral motif called buta originated in the Safavid Dynasty of Persia and was a major textile pattern in Iran also during the Qajar Dynasty. This pattern was used to decorate royal regalia, crowns, and court garments. It was also used in textiles used by the general population.

Pink & Orange
Paisley adapted to its familiar shape in India and spread to Scotland when soldiers returning from the colonies brought home cashmere wool shawls . From roughly 1800 to 1850, the weavers of the town of Paisley,
Renfrewshire, Scotland, adapted the design to weave woolen shawls using Jacquard looms, The design then became known as the Paisley pattern.

Paisley Meadows 2
Our hand-drawn paisley patterns were
inspired in part by some antique fabric designs. We have noticed that
paisley is becoming popular again and we wanted to offer our
scrapbooking visitors some different varieties of paisley paper designs.
As usual all our papers are free to download so print as many as you
like in as many sizes as you like.
|
 |
Grey Tone
We did a few of our all over paisley
designs in grey tone. Believe it or not, when making the 12x12 gray tone
papers, the file size was so big we had to split it up into 2 downloads.

Paisley Meadows -- Distressed
 |
Blue & White
These are the exact same designs as
in the Blue & White set above only they have a faded, scratched,
distressed look. Experiment with your print quality, because you can get
drastically different results using draft versus normal or high quality.
There is much less difference between normal and high, but as you can
see below there are differences between all 3 quality levels.
The main difference between the
normal and high on our scanner is that the high quality has more blue
and the normal has more green. Keep in mind this was printed, scanned and
then compressed, so depending on your printer, yours may appear slightly
different.
